We have an exciting opportunity available in our Contaminated Land Management and Radiation technical teams - two Senior Project Officers to join the Contaminated Land Management Unit and one Senior Project Officer to join the Radiation Unit. These roles provide specialist regulatory and expert technical advice on contaminated land management and radiation to protect people, property and the environment.
Key responsibilities of the roles in the Contaminated Land Management Unit include:
- Providing technical contaminated land advice to teams across the EPA
- Providing contaminated land advice on planning matters
- Working on contaminated land technical policy and guidelines
- Implementing quality control processes for the NSW contaminated land site auditor scheme
- Leading specific projects addressing priority contamination issues
- Supporting other NSW government agencies and Councils on contaminated land matters
- The role holders have primary responsibility for maintaining knowledge on contaminated land regulation and developing and reviewing various reports on contamination.
Key responsibilities of the role in the Radiation Unit include:
- Providing technical advice, training and specialised regulation support in radiation related matters to our stakeholders and teams across the EPA.
- Providing advice on complex radiation licensing and compliance matters
- Building and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of emerging radiation issues and the approaches being taken nationally and internationally to address them
- Developing, reviewing and implementing technical and operational policy, guidance and systems that inform regulation of radiation
About You
To be successful in the contaminated land management role, you’ll need to demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in assessment of contaminated land issues and application and interpretation of the legislation and guidelines supporting contaminated land regulation.
- Extensive knowledge of how contaminated land is managed and regulated in NSW to restore and enhance the environment.
- Effective project management skills.
To be successful in the radiation role, you’ll need to demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in technical issues associated with the safe use of either ionising radiation apparatus, sealed sources or radioactive substances
- Hold a recognised qualification from a tertiary institution in a radiation related field of study
- Extensive knowledge of how the use of radiation is managed and regulated in NSW to protect people and the environment
- Have good project management skills
