South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is seeking a Senior Medical Physics Specialist (Diagnostic Radiology) to join the Medical Physics team at Prince of Wales Hospital. The position is a permanent appointment for an experienced Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicist who is certified, or eligible for registration, with the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics.

About the Role

The successful applicant will lead and direct the provision of a broad range of medical physics services relating to radiological imaging across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.

The role includes equipment lifecycle management, radiation safety for staff, patients and members of the public, equipment performance testing, research and development, and education and training. Although based at Prince of Wales Hospital, the position supports relevant facilities and services across SESLHD.

A key priority will be maintaining SESLHD accreditation to train Medical Physics Registrars in both Nuclear Medicine and Radiology through the ACPSEM Training, Education and Assessment Program (TEAP), supporting development of a sustainable medical physics workforce in NSW

Ideal Candidate

• Undergraduate degree in Physical Sciences from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Postgraduate degree, or equivalent, in Medical Physics or a related field.
• Eligible for current ACPSEM registration as a qualified Medical Physics Specialist in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics (Radiology).
• At least five years of clinical experience in radiology physics following ACPSEM certification or equivalent.
• Experience delivering professional education within a medical physics setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team of medical physicists and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with ACPSEM TEAP requirements and the training of Registrars in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with universities or other higher education institutions in teaching and research.
• Holds, or is eligible to obtain, a NSW driver licence and is willing to travel across SESLHD as required.
• Ability to meet the progression criteria for Senior Medical Physics Specialist under the NSW Public Hospital Medical Physicists Award
